By October 25, 2023No Comments
Country Education Foundation of Australia has announced its CEF Extra scholarships for 2024.

You might notice we have had a brand refresh for our national Scholarships program. Rest assured that with the new logo comes the same exciting ‘extra’ opportunities! We thought this the perfect time to remind you about this program and how it works.

Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF) has announced more than $500,000 in ‘extra’ support for its students next year, with its more than 20 national partners signing on for the CEF Extra national scholarships program for next year.

Program: CEF Extra

Purpose: Provide students “extra” support via targeted scholarships and other opportunities

Scholarships: 20+

Value: $500,000+

CEF Extra is a national program of CEF that has been running since August 2020.

Under the program, students already granted funding by their local CEF foundation are also considered for ‘extra’ funding and development opportunities thanks to university and philanthropic partners, which provide scholarships where students meet certain eligibility criteria.

The criteria of the scholarships differ, but common criteria include what the student is studying, where they are studying, and the geographical region they’re from.

CEF CEO Juliet Petersen said the scholarships are a game changer for students in need of additional financial support to help them through their post-school work or education.

“For our rural and regional students, the complement of scholarships listed in our CEF Extra program is an opportunity to receive financial support in addition to that granted by their local foundation,” she said.

As we all know, given the current cost of living crisis, every little bit helps. We will continue to build partnerships so that offerings for our young adults provide much needed support during these critical periods of transition.

Applications must be completed online on the CEF website using the ‘APPLY NOW’ button by the closing date of the scholarship being applied for. Applicants must select the local CEF foundation of the area they live or attend school in, and applications are assessed by the local foundation.

If applying for an accommodation scholarship students must also apply to the accommodation provider by the closing date.

Some scholarships have additional application steps, such as answering more questions, providing a personal statement or attending an interview.

Since the program’s inception it has provided more than $1 million in additional assistance and opportunities for CEF alumni; an incredible support for students from regional and rural Australia.
