We are close to the finish line for our virtual Friends Event for 2020.

Here is one final, exclusive message just for you from country boy Jim Galvin who is the Executive Director of Retail with our Principal Partner Alinta Energy.

Remember – by donating via the link on this page, you also go in the running to win our lucky door prize – a beautiful CEF merino scarf (which will be very handy in the coming months) and a selection of wines from award-winning Printhie Wines based in our CEF home of Orange, NSW.

We still believe in the power of education and we still believe in our country youth. Every little bit counts.

“I have been so looking forward to meeting many of you at our traditional May event however sadly this has been cancelled. With the genius of technology, all is not lost and we are thrilled to welcome you to our ‘virtual’ Friends Event. Educating young Australians has never been more critical. By donating here, you’ll help us to raise aspirations of our rural youth and promote the importance of education at a time when they need it most.”

Juliet Petersen
Chief Executive Officer, CEF

“Sadly the vulnerability of our country youth and their need for support has tended to be lost in all the noise and the crises faced by Australia this year.

Nick Burton Taylor AM
Chairman, CEF

We know that meeting our wonderful grant recipients is usually one of the highlights of the Friends Event for you. We hope you will grab a cup of tea (or glass of wine), sit back and enjoy getting to know a little more about Isabel Michael and Isabel Gahan. Two incredibly intelligent young regional women, who after meeting at university and striking up a friendship discovered they were both CEF grant recipients from different parts of NSW. We hope they inspire you!

Saul helps measure our impact

Part of our mission at CEF is to unlock opportunities for our regional students. In 2016 Saul Brady received a grant from the Great Lakes Education Fund. In 2019, he reached out to CEF as part of his volunteer work with 180 Degrees Consulting, a firm that provides work experience for talented students. Saul and his team completed a study which shows that for every $1 you donate to CEF there is a $4.99 social return on investment. Hear why he thinks it is so important to keep supporting the work of CEF during these challenging times.

The power of education during challenging times

Our CEF alumni and students are the best ambassadors of the importance of education, especially when time’s are tough. Below you will find stories from students aiming to, and already, doing great things. Whether it is a global pandemic, family struggles or the difficulties in taking on further education when you are from a regional area, they are resilient and inspiring, and meeting them is usually one of the best part of the Friends Event. We hope the below stories motivate you as much as they do us, and we encourage you to donate to CEF today, and together we can continue to help rural and regional students access education, no matter what the future might hold.

Thanks to our partners at Alinta Energy, the 2019 CEF alumni awards were presented at an exciting event in Sydney on 23rd November 2020. From STEM through to social work, this year’s awards recognised achievements from a broad cross section of vocations across the CEF geographic footprint.

Erin worried of failing all the time

Our amazing supporter, the Origin Foundation this year celebrates their tenth anniversary. As part of their celebrations, they spoke with Temora Education Fund grant recipient Erin Reardon about her school, university and life experiences. It is a truly heart-warming video featuring a wonderful young woman and highlighting the important role CEF plays in helping to shape the lives of our youth.

All donations made before close of business on the 31st May will be in the running to win our lucky door prize.
