Dancer, teacher, and community advocate, Francesca Fenton has been awarded the 2025 Audi Foundation-Country Education Foundation Young Achiever Award.
The recent graduate of the Bachelor of Arts (Dance) – Honours from the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) received the award as part of the 2025 Audi Foundation-CEF Alumni Awards. The Awards honour five past and present CEF-supported students who demonstrate merit, commitment and dedication to their studies or training, and are making standout contributions in their communities.
The Audi Foundation–Country Education Foundation Young Achiever Award is presented to a recent graduate with determination and talent, resulting in early career accomplishments in their field of choice.
CEF CEO Wendy Mason said Francesca was destined to be a ‘young achiever’ from an early age, having founded her own dance studio at just age 15.
“This was a bold move that hinted at the drive and vision Francesca would carry into adulthood,” Ms Mason said.
“She then made the life-changing decision to move across the country to study at WAAPA, a long way from her support network. Both these decisions are very courageous – the hallmarks of a true leader.”
Francesca credits the volunteers from CEF Grenfell for their ongoing support throughout her educational journey and believes strongly in the value of the CEF network.
”The support I received from CEF Grenfell throughout my studies helped alleviate the financial pressures of relocating and allowed me to focus on my learning.
This funding played a huge role in helping me find my footing in a new place.
Today Francesa performs with Co3, Western Australia’s leading contemporary dance company. She also teaches for the West Australian Ballet, delivering movement and dance workshops in schools, studios, and community halls across the Pilbara, Goldfields, and Southwest regions of WA.
To young people in rural and regional areas, Francesca offers heartfelt advice.
“It’s okay not to know exactly what you want to do after school. Try things, see what fits, and don’t be afraid to change direction. When you find something you love, learning becomes a joy.”
