A group of students studying Business at @bonduniversity, called Upstanding, decided to fundraise for us as part of a project they undertook in their studies. ๐คฉ
They had no idea who we were or what we did until they came across us on Google, but still chose us as their charity partner because of the clear impact we have on regional students. ๐ช
And thanks to their efforts, designing and selling laptop stands, we have more in the kitty to continue helping our rural and regional students access post school education and employment. ๐ฃ๏ธ

We`re thrilled to announce our Principal Partner, @auctionsplus, is joining forces with our 2024 Mentor Program by providing three experienced and skilled mentors to support CEF students and alumni! ๐คฉ
With 7 other mentors from many different backgrounds and industries also lined up, this year`s program is one not to be missed! ๐ค
The first round of the program, which is open to all of our students and alumni, will run from late April to July, with a second round to be scheduled for later in the year.

Our alumna, Kelly Easey from Gunnedah, has come a long way since receiving grant and scholarship funding from CEF in 2014 and 2015. ๐ฃ๏ธ
From the tiny locality of Willala, near Gunnedah, NSW, she became the first member of her family to attend university. Having completed her studies in Medicine in 2019 at @unsw, she now has dreams to returning to a regional area as a cardiologist. ๐ฉบ

๐ CEF makes it possible for students to experience @charlessturtuni Wagga Wagga ๐
Thanks to our partnership with Charles Sturt University, we were able to take 25 lucky high school students on a fully subsidised trip to its Wagga Wagga campus so they could experience what it`s like to study at a regional university. ๐
Given the barriers regional students face with distance and costs, these students may not have been able to attend if not for this initiative. ๐คฉ

Current statistics reveal that mental health challenges are likely to affect every individual in Australia, either directly or indirectly at some point in their life, and regional Australia is disproportionately affected.
@absstats state 38.8% of Australian people aged 16-24 years have had a 12-month mental health disorder.
Thanks to the Hand to the Land fundraiser, we will be able to to make a difference and deliver mental health first aid training to our network in conjunction with Mental Health First Aid Australia.
This is possible thanks to the incredible ~$200,000 raised!

The Walker familyโs heartbreaking story shines a light on the struggles faced by those in rural and regional areas. The ABS statistics speak for themselves โ38.8% of Australian people aged 16-24 years have had a 12-month mental health disorderโ, these are our students, our friends, our future.
CEF fosters further education, career, and personal development opportunities of rural and regional youth, through community-based financial assistance and wrap around support. Thatโs why weโve teamed up with #handtotheland and @mhfa_australia to improve mental health literacy in these communities. Education is key to making a difference.
CEFโs local committees across the country are run by community volunteers all with one thing in common โ a passion for seeing rural and regional youth succeed. Arming our 46 committees and hundreds of volunteers with the Mental Health First Aid Australiaโs education course is vital in building the knowledge of our communities on how to support those affected with mental health challenges. The #handtotheland funds will also support CEF students studying and looking to work in the mental health sector.
