Central Australian Education Foundation Grant Recipient
James has been fascinated by astrophysics from a young age and he’s now studying a Science/Communication double degree at ANU in Canberra, with help from the CEF in Alice Springs.
I like the idea of breaking down complicated concepts and putting them into layman’s terms – like Dr Karl.
James says that ANU was always his first choice for uni but without the CEF assistance he would never have been able to go to Canberra. The cost of living away from home was simply too high.
“I come from a single parent family and having to move interstate to Canberra, where it’s really expensive, just meant that without financial assistance university would have been unaffordable.”
“For me the grant removed the stress. It was so flexible and helped with a lot of my costs which meant I could spend more time studying and networking and less time worrying about my finances.”
James is excelling at university having achieved a high distinction as well as finishing the year off on a distinction average.
