Rubber Duckies Dashing Through the… River

By February 11, 2016January 19th, 2021No Comments

Country_Education_Foundation_Shoalhaven_Duck_DashThe Shoalhaven River was awash with 9500 blue rubber ducks last September when the annual Duck Dash took place. The event raised an amazing $30 000 for the Country Education Foundation of Shoalhaven.

The 2015 Duck Dash was a great example of a fantastic fundraising event and fun family day out. It’s a great example of the amazing things our local foundations do to help students access education.

The volunteer contribution to this event each year  is huge. It’s not easy getting that many ducks in a row and ready to race!

Local businesses really rally behind the Shoalhaven event each year to provide prizes and support.

Businesses and community members flocked to sponsor ducks and be in the running to win lots of great prizes. NSW Premier Mike Baird was even a contender in this year’s race.

A number of previous Shoalhaven CEF grant recipients took time out from their studies in Sydney and Wollongong to help with the event. It was great for the committee to hear how they are going at uni.

The amazing CEF of Shoalhaven Duck Dash organisers, Sophie and Raj, said the event is such a buzz. At the end they were exhausted and wondered if they could back up for another one next year. They didn’t have long to contemplate this though. As soon as the event was over they received a generous pledge for the 2016 Duck Dash.

Stay tuned for more Duck Dash developments…
