We first introduced you to Cody Logan from Orange NSW in May this year as a grant recipient and Audi Foundation CEF Scholar.
We knew at that time there was something special about him, and the way he has taken on the challenges life has thrown at him.
It is no surprise he has been announced as the Audi Foundation – CEF Launching Star for 2021.
And it seems no matter who you ask, there is no one more deserving of this accolade.

If you missed our first story on Cody, you can find it HERE.

Seeing as we have already shared our words on Cody, we thought there would be no better way for you to get to know more about this remarkable young man than by reading his own words.

We have no doubt you will agree, this young man is destined for great things.

Congratulations on your CEF Alumni Award! How does it feel to be recognised as an CEF Alumni Award winner?
I was completely overwhelmed when I heard the amazing news.

I don’t normally take the time to look at what I’ve achieved with my life, so being recognised in this way is an extremely surreal feeling to say the least.

I am just extremely grateful for CEF, what they have done for me and what they continue to do for students across the country.

Can you tell us a little about your life growing up?
I grew up like any other Aussie kid having fun, in a loving and amazing family of 7. We were constantly moving around the country due to mum’s work commitments. We decided to settle down in Orange NSW which was great.

Then devastation hit pretty hard with the loss of my father, and we were family of 6.

We were faced with even more adversity with a house fire and a cancer prognosis, but we just kept rolling with the punches and overall, we have grown stronger with every challenge.

We have always been a supportive family who valued education meaning tertiary study was always an option for me.

I am the first in my family to pursue university and I’m eternally grateful to have been given this opportunity.

Cody is one of the 2021 Audi Foundation scholarship recipients, and reading his story I’m sure you’ll agree there is no one more deserving of this award.  Cody has overcome adversity and demonstrated phenomenal resilience despite the challenges he has faced. Not only has he been recognised for his exceptional academic achievements, he supports his family and his community, and has dreams to improve the health outcomes of those in regional communities.
I am truly honoured that we can support people like Cody to achieve their dreams.

What have been some of your greatest/proudest achievements to date?
One of my proudest moments would have to be inspiring my younger brother to pursue tertiary education and make it clear to him that he is capable of achieving greatness.

This year I’ve also been able to focus on my studies and attain an Executive Deans Award for academic achievement.

What do you like to do in your spare time? What are you passionate about?
I am extremely passionate about health and fitness and try to train as much as possible with both weight training and long-distance running.

I try to draw as much as I can. Recently I wrote and illustrated a children’s book detailing the amazing wildlife we are lucky to have in Australia. Wildlife conservation and traditional indigenous art are other passions of mine.

One day I hope to publish the book and use any profits to assist regional communities with animal conservation efforts.

How important is the work that CEF does?
From a personal point of view, CEF has allowed me to pursue my dreams, inspire younger generations and give back to the greater community.

Any organisation which aims to inspire others and facilitate greatness is of the utmost importance and I can assure you CEF is one of these organisations.

CEF Orange & Districts is amazing at what they do. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting most of the team and I can say without a doubt that they were all instrumental to my success over the past three years.

The CEF family have definitely revitalised my passion for community involvement and how even the smallest of gestures can have a significant impact.

Staying connected will allow me to one day give back to this amazing foundation which has given so much to me.

Cody has been supported by CEF Orange & Districts for 3 years.
Overcoming a lot of adversity through his younger years, he will graduate as a paramedic this year and is applying for graduate programs. Despite the upheaval of the past 2 years, Cody received an executive dean’s award for academic achievement this year. He is so grateful for the support he has received and goes out of his way to do whatever he can in return.
We couldn’t be prouder, and he is certainly a Launching Star in our eyes!

What is next for you?
After finishing my Bachelor of Paramedicine at Charles Sturt University, I hope to gain invaluable experience working as a paramedic and immersing myself in a huge range of patient demographics.

After this I hope to study Medicine and specialise in cardiology where I eventually hope to return to rural Australia to provide essential medical services to those in need.

Cody is just at the beginning of his journey, and is already achieving so much.

He has a great head on his shoulders, an extraordinary sense of optimism and an infectious smile. No matter where life takes him, we know that it will be exciting and inspiring, and we are proud to be a small part of his story.
